To search for routes across borders, I have to make changes to the attributes of the waypoints that are otherwise totally unnecessary. To tidy up the numerous waypoints, I sort waypoints according to the countries they belong to. For example, it is not easy to search for routes between two waypoints if those two waypoints are under different categories. Others are concerning the ways it handles waypoints. Simply unbelievable! Now I am forced to use other programs (Apple Maps or browsers) to look for cities and this requires the net connection. It does not find a city by its name quickly. This BaseCamp seems to have one critical and several shortcomings compared to its predecessor. I copied the waypoints from the hummingbird onto a sd card but the format has to be changed somehow so it can be loaded into the new unit.
#TRANSFER GARMIN WAYPOINTS TO GARMIN HOW TO#
I loved the MapSource but Garmin decided to drop the development and to make users to migrate to the BaseCamp. I have an older hummingbird 998c that I am replacing with a new Garmin echomap plus 94sv chart plotter and I was having problems figuring out how to transfer the waypoints.
#TRANSFER GARMIN WAYPOINTS TO GARMIN SOFTWARE#
Naturally I spend hours (more than 60 hours yearly?) using the companion computer software (this BaseCamp or its predecessor, MapSource) to plan the trips. If you are using the Garin Tread device, then you just need the Tread smartphone app to allow connectivity to your Garmin Explore account.I have used Garmin GPS devices traveling through mostly Western Europe for the last nine years.

You can either use the Garmin Explore website or app to do this. Once you have imported your data, it is ready to be synced to your devices. This is a major flaw that I hope Garmin addresses to encourage the adoption of Garmin Explore. Another big issue is if you’ve spent time adjusting the icon for each waypoint, you will need to start over again once the file is imported. I would recommend breaking up your Basecamp export into smaller files are indicated above.

To transfer data with Garmin ® devices again, select the ADM file type. Select Nav Info > User Data > Data Transfer > File Type. You can import and export waypoints and routes from third-party devices. If you have a large library of data, you might want to export by waypoint, routes, tracks as individual data sets. Title: How to Transfer Waypoints from Garmin To Cell Phone. Selecting a File Type for Third-Party Waypoints and Routes. To transfer your data from Garmin basecamp, you must first go to Garmin BaseCamp and simply select “My Collections” and click on “File” > “Export My Collections”. To begin using custom waypoint symbols, you will first want to follow the above links to the posts on Garmin's forum. Hog, Bear, Lynx, and other hunters are just a few of the useful custom waypoints available for download. Transferring from Garmin Basecamp to Garmin Explore Waypoint galleries are available on Garmin's forums here and here.
